"Shift Happens,” the book, was the natural progression of the success we have experienced for decades at The Arc of Delaware County using positive, proactive techniques without the use of any physical restraints, to manage behavior of adults and children with intellectual disabilities.
Shift Happens, the consulting effort, is a natural extension of the enthusiastic reception the book received from our colleagues in the field.
Since 1992, The Arc of Delaware County has provided consultation and training on this topic. Over and over, we’ve heard the same thing: families and professionals are desperate for an easy, practical guide for our positive, compassionate approach.
